So the past 24 hours has elevated this situation to high Shakespearean drama. (Because again, Antonio Brown.)

First, Brown, finally, releases a statement (which, as McAfee says, is extremely well-worded, full Strunk & White in effect - which is not, shall we say, the timbre of his usual texts...but then again, you are talking a text versus an actual statement that he presumably released through his publicist), saying they were forcing him to play on a bad ankle, so he got pissed and left.



Immediately - like, within an hour or two - the Buccaneers formally-and-for-real release him. (And that's an interesting happening, too - you tell the guy to get off the field and that he's "no longer a Buc", and then order him to see a doctor and blah blah blah until he tells his side, at which point you then cut him for real? What gives with this timing?)

And as soon as that happens, Coach Bruce Arians gets in front of a camera and tells a pretty much completely different story about how he was upset nobody was throwing him the ball. (Arians' statement begins at 6:27 below.)



Now as it is pointed out, players are commonly mic'd up, and NFL Films very likely has the audio. They can release it and clear up this entire thing. They don't seem to be doing so right now. And they work for the NFL and therefore the Buccaneers - not Antonio Brown. So it isn't a good look for them right now. (Admittedly, they might be taking their time with it and getting all the lawyers lined up first; it would make sense if they did.)
