Dr. Delirium and the Edgewood Experiments
Dr. Delirium and the Edgewood Experiments (2022)
Absolutely chilling documentary done as a deep dive by journalists for Discovery+. It follows the complete history of the infamous Edgewood Arsenal Experiments that were done under the auspices of the US Army. The journalist leading the team had a grandmother who was experimented on in a concentration camp in Germany. She approaches the history as an exploration of whether or not they violated the Nuremberg Code. Information is taken from what documents they could receive, interviews with test subjects, and testimony/depositions connected to the one court case.
While they tested many different "less lethal" methods at Edgewood, the documentary focuses on the use of LSD, BZ, PCP, and cannabinoids on soldiers. They were able to receive footage of how out of it the experiments caused the subjects to be. The high dosage of these psychedelic drugs caused horrible problems that were suffered for the rest of each man's life. Horrible nightmares, mental disability, memory problems, and more were not uncommon complaints.
They also go into the history of the project and some of the hidden connections. They explore whether or not there is evidence of CIA involvement and it seems likely. They also are able to prove that at least 8 Nazi scientists were present at Edgewood and some of them were on trial at Nuremberg. Very similar to Project Paperclip. In fact, Edgewood shares some similarities with Operation Midnight Climax which is one of several sub-projects under MKUltra.
