Europa Universalis IV

Post by scooter »

Okay, I'll admit this looks pretty good, though it has been out for quite a while (I'm late to the party as per usual). If you've played it...how does it compare with Diplomacy?

I actually found this while researching an online version of Machiavelli...

EDIT: Wow...helluva lot of vids on the 'Tubes about this.
This has been another bit of brain shrapnel from...

It looks like a much more historically accurate version of Firaxis' Civilization to me. It seems to also be way more advanced technically as the latest Civ game allows only a dozen opponents while this allows for hundreds. It also has way more countries that you can play as, each giving a very different game. Starting the game as Hawai'i is going to give you a vastly different overall play than if you start as England. Technology, philosophy, and other advancements occur in the world as they did in ours. In Civ, one nation could have nuclear power and capitalism while another has dirt roads and feudalism.

Not my cup of tea but there are a lot of fans of such games out there.
