Making new drinks

Drinking Bronxes right now, thanks to, well, what I have in my liquor cabinet. The claim to fame for a Bronx is that that was the drink Nick Charles was referencing in The Thin Man.

The proportions on this drink are very strange, but I think I have lucked onto a decent combination. My usual was a 2:1:1:1. I actually found one that called for four different proportions (roughly 1 : 3/4 : 1/2 : 1/4, with the addition of orange bitters) which seems to work pretty well.

I'm sure most mixology is more of an art than a science as it comes down to individual taste.

Bloody Mary tonight - on the spicy side. Old Bay hot sauce may have been employed - [mention]Glitter[/mention]...

First time having a Negroni tonight, and it isn't bad. Quite bitter. Unfortunately I have no oranges, so I can't garnish it.

This was the trendy cocktail of about, oh, 2017 or so. There's still a trend towards the simpler classics going on, though again, millenials seem to go for vodka over anything else; I was definitely the only person at the Second Chance to drink gin.

Seems a bit off-balanced, and uses that gimmicky DeKuyper's schnapps product, which are sort of like alcoholic SweeTarts. I'll pass.

Incidentally, has anyone had Aviation? Greg from How to Drink was using some on his show and made reference to it being "not really a London Dry", so I'm wondering about its pedigree - I would gather just a distilled gin, as many U.S. brands are.
