I wanted to invite people here to discuss any efforts to make a set of international rosters for OOTP 24 to replace those that were nuked from the game.

I'll help this effort where I can...right now, my main contribution will be to provide this space so we may talk about such things without having to resort to any silly [league redacted] nonsense.

For my own part, the alternative will likely be discontinuing buying the game. Wanted to make the effort to salvage the game with a user community...if that isn't possible, then we'll see what happens.

Here are the questions:

Is it possible to add the missing international leagues, with real players?

The answer to this one is clearly "yes", since it was done in past versions; the question then becomes how to do it. We'd need to either get somebody on the inside at OOTP to let us know of the algorithm, or reverse-engineer it. Or just take our best guesses at it.

Is it possible to do something to the leagues to avoid having them munged by OOTP's "patches"?

The big bugaboo here is NPB, and I'm fine having a "Rippon Pro Baseball" with "*Roki *Sasaki" playing in it, provided the asterisks throw off the search-and-replace mechanism.

Do we have the community input necessary to do this?

I'm envisioning a different person or team taking over rating each league.

We wouldn't have to stick to those which were in OOTP 23. Great Britain, Israel, mainland China...all are possible.

Is this a case of diminishing returns?

Probably the biggest question to determine: is this too much? Are we putting in too much for this game which should have these already, particularly with what we paid for it in the past?

Right now, the answer to this is looking like "yes", considering the effort isn't yet coming together. It's very early days yet, however, so it remains to be seen. (Dream scenario: find a very deep-pocketed baseball fan/millionaire willing to bankroll the project...)

Found your forum while trying to find any Japan/International graphics on the main forum.

I was unaware of the decisions they had made when I bought OOTP24. Loaded it up, no NPB. Weird. Started to make it. Came back after work and my save file was changed. Reinstalled 23 and loaded my old save file. Scrubbed. Looked online and saw what had happened.

Refunded 24, uninstalled 23, and will not be buying future products from them. Removing a league due to licensing is understandable. Removing mods from their main site, understandable. Messing with my save files? That's not ok.

Now my issue is finding NPB logos and uniforms, especially historical in pre 23 format as there doesn't seem to be a site containing mods and graphics that I've found other than the main forums. I've gone back to OOTP 22 and disconnected it from online features, plus I won't update it in order to prevent any future save file scrubbing should they decide to change the code in their older games.

The mess they did with the 23 save files is rather surprising and annoying; I'm not certain why that was necessary. It shouldn't be the case with 24 either, to be honest: the game should be yours to use, along with any modifications you want, once it is bought and downloaded. Of course, OOTP is not the only game or bit of software to do this.

I'm still running 23 and am evaluating 24 to see if I wish to continue with it. There are some other gameplay problems, such as trading AI, which wouldn't ordinarily be an issue but may be too much to deal with given the other problems.

I'm trying to get people over here so we can first discuss what we are looking for in international rosters or other changes to the game, and second, how we can create an independent effort and independent download site for the mods that we want.

Hello.... BaseballGOAT over on OOTP. I'm not gonna really mess much with 24 because of the limitations. I'm building a huge saved game tho still for 23. I never patched when they got rid of the NPB. Luckily I'm a beta tester and knew it was happening before it did.

Currently the filters for scrubbing data do not affect player names. So no tweak needed on names if working on the NPB in 24. Team names and league names are the issue. I have a set of team names from another member of the forums over there that supposedly will bypass the filters. Haven't tried it out yet. Maybe later this week?

Not a lot of details yet, but there could be a nice Quickstart coming this summer that will put back in a lot of the missing leagues. I can't say much because of who's actually working on the Quickstart. Not sure yet if it will have some edited version of the NPB or not. The list of international leagues that are in or being researched for inclusion is fairly substantial .
