The Fake Futurism Topic

Post by [Dimetrodon] »

Totally not something to prevent investments in Amtrak and high-speed rail.

Honestly, I don't know why people fawn over something that just looks like modern futurism when it is at best vaporware. No, there will not be this futuristic hyper-loop system, nor are cyber-trucks going to revolutionize trucking, or anything like that. Innovation is slowing down, so be very cautious of anything groundbreaking.

Every day, my wonder at anybody believing or trusting Elon Musk increases. The Hyperloop is a clear example of that. Beware people who offer simple solutions to big complicated problems.

It isn't necessarily a simple solution, either. Existing rail technology would do the same job just as well; we would need to invest in passenger rail infrastructure, and get it out of the hands of the freight companies.
